A 48-year-old man has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Fauresmith Magistrate's Court on Tuesday for allegedly dealing in rhino horns. According to Loraine Kalp, a police spokesperson, the man was arrested by police in co-operation with the department of environmental affairs' nature conservation division.

Kalp says the man was set up by the police. A transaction was arranged on a farm in the Fauresmith district in the eastern Free State. The suspect was arrested after allegedly paying R73 000 for seven rhino horns.

Rhino horns are commonly exported to eastern markets illegally. Police have confiscated the horns, cash and the man's vehicle.
