LOS ANGELES - The first Sumatran rhinoceros born in captivity in more than a century when it was born in Ohio in 2001 will be moved from the Los Angeles Zoo to Indonesia this week to take part in a breeding program for the critically endangered species, officials said.
Zoo officials said Wednesday they hope Andalas will mate with two female rhinos at the Sumatran Rhino Sanctuary in the Way Kambas National Park on the island of Sumatra.
