The baby rhino at the Kansas City Zoo has been named Imara, which means ństrongî in Swahili.
Zoo officials announced the winning entry in a name-the-rhino contest on Sunday.
John D. Fink of Overland Park and Todd Kussman of St. Peters, Mo., both submitted the name Imara and will receive zoo passes. There were more than 2,000 entries, some from as far as Canada.
Imara was born Feb. 8 and now weighs about 250 pounds. She is on exhibit Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
