Forty-six one-horned rhinoceros of
the Royal Chitwan National Park (RCNP) died in the last one year.
Out of the total 30 were
killed
by poachers and the rest died of natural causes. According to conservation
official Shiva Ram Bhatta, most the rhinos were killed by poachers
but some died on natural causes as well. In the previous year,
54 rhinos had died. There are just over 600 rhinos in the country.
The
one-horned rhinos, endangered species, are the prime attraction
of the RCNP.
