MUENSTER, Germany - A female rhinoceros killed her new-born baby
when she accidentally pierced it with her horn, zoo officials said
Saturday. The 61-kilo baby was born on Friday night. Its mother,
described as extremely nervous, was trying to make it walk by prodding
it but her horn went through its rib cage, causing fatal injuries.
Zoo officials said they would persist with their breeding programme
but with other females.
