DVUR KRALOVE, east Bohemia, A seven-year-old female rhinoceros
was sent today to the British town of Port Lympne-Howlets from the
zoological gardens in Dvur Kralove, zoo keeper Daniela Hofmanova
told CTK.
"The animal weighs around 900 kilos and so the transport of
such a robust animal and dangerous animal required special care,"
she said. The young rhinoceros is to genetically enrich the British
breed.
"Today's act bears witness to the international cooperation
of zoo gardens and reservations which gives hope to the protection
of this rare and threatened species," she added.
